Mike Coyner played for perenial Virginia powerhouse,Norfolk RFC from 1991 to 1994 mostly at scrum half earning Virginia Rugby Union select side honors. From 1995 to 1998 Mike Coyner was a flanker with Washington RFC,founding club of the Super League. Mike played against the best in the nation during this period. Mike Coyner was selected for the National 7 a side Team from 1998 to 2001 earning 24 international caps. From 2002 to 2004 Mike served on the coaching staff at US Air Force Academy and was part of the team winning National Championship honors in 2003.
Mike Coyner served as Head Coach for the US National 7s team from 2003-2004.
Mike Coyner is currently on the coaching staff at the United States Naval Academy.
